Twelve Lessons from 2012
Twelve Lessons from 2012
1. Hard work pays off. It may or may not make you wealthy or healthy, but the satisfaction that comes from working hard is a reward in itself. 2. Practice what you preach. It is so much easier to teach others than to convince yourself. To be an effective teacher, you must truly believe in what you are saying. 3. Seek solitude. There is beauty in silence, which once discovered, becomes so dear that you cannot live without it. 4. Listen to the wise. Knowledge increases in direct proportion to listening to those who know more than us. 5. There is a lot of goodness in the world. We hear so many stories of doom and gloom that we may start thinking that there is no good left in the world. This is simply not true. 6. Think before you speak. Keep in mind that the tongue is mightier than the sword. 7. Learn something new. There is a giddy feeling you get when you learn to do something you didn't think you could. 8. Believe in your vision. Do not let minor or even major setbacks distract you. Keep your eye on the target, and you are sure to succeed. 9. Do the right thing. Even if no one else is looking, you know what you have done. You can fool others, but your conscience will not let you rest. 10. Never stop laughing. There are countless reasons why you should be laughing. Discover those reasons and let out a hearty guffaw. 11. Time passes quickly. When will you visit your mother? When will you start exercising? 12. Do it now. There is no better moment than the present to finish the report, make that phone call you have been dreading, and get that tooth pulled out.
